I am going to start doing the regalia by Region for the
Men only right now. I will be doing the regalia following the
outline below: |
|
General Dress |
1. Basic dress before the 1800's |
Basic dress and hairstyles, outer clothing, accessories
including jewelry, if any, and embellishments to the body
and face, if any.
|
2. Dress after the 1800's |
Basic dress
|
Footwear will be done at another time |
|
There is a lot of information and changes to the present
day as to the way of dress. Many tribes as in the days of old
have adopted forms of dress from other tribes. My feelings on
this subject is whom is to say who is wrong in their regalia
and who is right. I have tried my best to put this information
together. I will only be doing two tribes at a time and putting
Resources on each page for information. The main resource for
my information comes form the book:"
Encyclopedia of American Indian Costume" by Josephine
Paterek. I advise everyone to get
this book because there is a lot of other information in this
book which I will not cover in these articles. |
