100 Mile Club
16 Weeks of Motivation and Empowerment

from the Hopi Tutuveni

Congratulations to all the strong hearted participants of the 2014 100 Mile Club!

We have enjoyed, and are thankful for the relationship with all the participants, volunteers, and the Hopi communities who have been a part in bringing together a diverse population of people who share a passion for exercise through running and walking the challenging trails that added uniqueness to each event.

The 100 Mile Club has just completed its final challenge at the Hopi Veteran’s Memorial Center on Monday, August 25th with 5k, 2 and 1 mile courses. This 16 week walk/run program began as a step forward to encourage people to come together to exercise and build a foundation of health awareness.

With the 100 Mile Club coming to a close; we hope you all continue to work on bettering blood glucose readings, make exercise a part of your daily routine, and schedule annual doctor’s visits - PREVENTION is the key. Let’s not lose sight of goals that you may have set when you started this journey. It’s inspiring to know that your body has built up on increasing heart rates, breathing is easier during your exercise, and you increased your time and distance in your walking and running. A lot of hard work right? Yes, and this is the reason why logging your progress to aid as a visual tool in evaluating your exercise patterns you worked so hard for has paid off!

The 100 Mile Club is grateful that all events went on as scheduled. In the past some events were postponed due to smoke in the air or cancelled because of the rains washed out trails moments before the event. The 100 Mile Club will be back for 2015; ready to challenge you to more moments of greatness that’s instilled in each and everyone. Be Happy, Live, Laugh, Love and Keep Moving Hopi!

It’s A 100 Mile Club Giveaway Event!

Hopi Wellness 100 Mile Club
The 100 Mile Club provides residents of the Hopi community the opportunity to walk or run 100 miles over the course of 16 weeks in an effort to increase daily physical activity and lower the incidence of Type II Diabetes in the community. It’s a big goal to reach, but with dedication and support, all participants can reach the goal and then some.
